This section is devoted to our Leopard Gecko breeding project. In March 2009 we upgraded our gecko breeding facility to allow us to offer our animals an even better husbandry provision. Already we are seeing the benefits of this investment but it is next year that we expect to see the real benefits
In our collection section we have chosen to showcase a dozen groups of our gecko morphs. We have many more different morphs so please check our available page to see if what you are looking for is listed, if not please get in touch we may very well have what you are looking for.
We consider the Leopard Gecko to be an ideal reptile to keep, be it for a first time beginner or experienced herpetologist. The new morphs that interest and excite us all are quickly produced provided you have the ingredients required. The new co-dom morphs such as the Mack Snow and the enigmas allow us to produce these in the first generation.
Please ensure that you purchase only quality healthy animals, as we are regularly asked to solve problems created by suppliers who deal in sub standard animals. There are many caring specialised breeders including ourselves and P+S Geckos who breed quality animals, Please use us all.
Basic Husbandry
All of our geckos are kept individually in a tray system, which we believe is the best way to keep them. Animals are only paired together for breeding. Normally each box has a paper towel substrate, a dish for water, another for mealworms and a third for calcium powder. A hide is provided at all times. During the breeding season an egg laying box containing damp vermiculite is also added. Heat is provided by a 5” heat strip, controlled by a thermostat set to 32 C. Only the rear base of the tray is heated. We feed our animals on mealworms, standard sized for adults and mini mealworms for hatchlings and animals up to 15cm nose to tail. The preparation of the mealworm is essential we place ours into large trays and feed them a good selection of fruit and vegetables, especially carrots up until 24 hours before we intend using them for the geckos. At this stage we place what we require for feeding into smaller trays and feed them a very rich gut loading mix. On the day we feed them to the geckos we add our vitamin powder and a mealworm diet into the mealworms dish. We use mealworms for several reasons: 1. They remain in their dish so they do not pass on any infection by eating any faeces. 2. They do not drown in the water dishes causing vile odours. 3. We can keep them fed while waiting for the geckos to eat them so they are very nutritious.
Over the years we have heard and read a load of nonsense about the problems of feeding mealworms, we have never had any problems with them and find the growth rate of our geckos to be amazing. We hope this information will be helpful and if you have any other questions please get in touch.
